EUROCONTROL's INVENTAIR

ENVISA was mandated by EUROCONTROL to create a website dedicated to global aircraft emissions. The site will allow registered users to download and visualise worldwide emission grids based on WISDOM flight movement database.


With public concern growing about global warming and the strengthening of international environmental legislation, accurately estimating current and future emissions is of the highest importance, notably to support efficient and unbiased political decision making.

ENVISA’s activities in the domain of transportation emissions, and more specifically aviation emissions, cover a wide range of aspects including:

  • designing, developing and validating fuel burn and emission models
  • developing comparative ‘what if’ scenarios and traffic forecasts
  • investigating alternative fuel solutions
  • mapping with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • reporting to regulatory and controlling authorities

Advanced Emission Model – AEM (2004-2008)

ENVISA is in charge of designing, developing and validating the latest versions of EUROCONTROL’s Advanced Emission Model (AEM) to assess global aircraft emissions.

European GAES-INVENT Emission Inventory (2005)

ENVISA carried out an inventory of emissions generated by the civil traffic over the ECAC area in 2002. Emissions were assigned to each ECAC Member State using different allocation schemes.
