ERAT (Environmentally Responsible Air Transport) is a 3-year research project funded by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy and Transport (DG TREN) under the 6th Framework Programme (FP6). Its objective is to identify, develop, integrate and validate new operational concepts to reduce the environmental impact of air transport operations in the terminal phase of flights.

ENVISA is involved in the work package on aircraft performance, noise and emissions, and is leader of the work package on the assessment of new concepts of operations. Our main activities are to:

  • define the scenarios and study parameters corresponding to the evaluated concepts
  • evaluate the impact of the new concepts on local air quality around airports (emission inventory & dispersion modelling)
  • perform a system wide impact analysis of new concepts of Air Traffic Management operations through fast-time modelling using RAMS Plus - delay, capacity, timeliness, etc.
