The SOURDINE II project developed environmentally friendly aircraft approach and departure procedures and validated them in terms of cost, safety, efficiency and operational feasibility.
While the first phase of the project focused on short and medium-term noise abatement procedures (NAPs), SOURDINE II investigated long term NAPs such as the Advanced Continuous Descent Approach.
A specific version of the Integrated Noise Model (INM) was issued in collaboration with the FAA and a Thrust-Based Emission Calculator (TBEC) was produced. ENVISA trained SOURDINE II partners on how to perform noise modelling using outputs from fast-time flight simulations. ENVISA was also in charge of assessing the emissions associated with candidate NAPs.
