Advanced AEM (EUROCONTROL Emissions Toolset) Training



Duration: 15 hours
Language: English or French


A fee of 1400€ per attendee will be required in order to cover ENVISA's expenses for this training. This fee includes a two-day technical training on the ENVISA premises, installation help (if not done already) and sample case studies. Maximum 4 people per class. The fee includes questions and discussions through e-mail exchanges with your trainer.

Who is this course for?

This course is for aviation personnel who want to learn aviation environmental tools and especially how to calculate aircraft emissions. This two-day course provides a comprehensive analysis of the EUROCONTROL AEM toolset, including 4D emissions and fuel burn scenarios. The course is designed for environmental practitioners who will be responsible for compliance and environmental issues at their facilities, and for professionals who wish to have a better understanding of aviation emission tools.

Course pre-requisite: Basic understanding of aviation ATM, ATC issues and environment.

Course Objective

    You will learn to:

  • Prepare a set of traffic data with correct parameters and format for AEM.
  • Run the AEM tool.
  • Check user options corresponding to the input data and the study.
  • Post-process AEM outputs.

You will get lots of opportunities to practice what you learn. You'll get immediate feedback from the trainer and help with special problems related to your concerns. As part of the course you will receive personal advice based on your specific problems.



Duration of the training

This course lasts 2 days and can be tailored to your requirements and expertise. Three options are proposed:

  • 1 day flight data preparation with Excel/Access + 1 day AEM
  • 1 day AEM + 1 day help on your concrete problems/data
  • 1 day training + equivalent of 1 day of phone/email support valid for the next 4 months

A questionnaire will be sent to each participant several days before the training. This document will help your facilitator assess your needs and adapt the training accordingly.

Technical requirements

Attendees are required to bring their laptops which must comply with AEM's minimum requirements, which are:

  • Equivalent of 1MB of RAM.
  • Operating system – AEM runs on Windows systems only. Compatibility with Windows Vista and Windows 7 is not ensured.
  • Software – MS Office suite, including MS Access 2003 (and not 2007).
  • At least 200Mb free space on the hard drive.
